Our Approach
At Southern Cross Psychology, therapy usually starts with an assessment – your psychologist will meet with you, sometimes over a couple of sessions, and ask lots of questions to get a good feel for where things are at for you, how they came to be so, and how you’d like them to be different. You’ll then work together with your therapist to identify some goals, plan some approaches to achieve them, and work together on making the changes you want to enjoy.
We are skilled and experienced in a range of different approaches, and we bring them together to help each client make the changes they are seeking - therapy is tailored to your needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Our practice is known for our approach working on a couple of different levels - from the "top down", we help with symptoms, daily functioning in the here-and-now, to make life more enjoyable or comfortable, today. We are also skilled at using "bottom up" approaches, helping people to identify and address the underlying causes of their issues, to support longer term recovery and ongoing wellness.
