Clinical Masterclass: PTSD in First Responders - this event took place on 16th August 2024

Hear from leaders in the field of treating PTSD in police, ambulance and fire & rescue workers.

In-person (Sydney) and Online, this one-day masterclass will enhance your practice in treating Police and other First Responders with PTSD. With an emphasis on practical tips, user-friendly strategies and real-life case scenarios, we will cover treatment planning, intervention strategies, and outcome measurement, as well as integrating treatment, rehabilitation and family needs in recovery. Building on your existing knowledge in evidence-based approaches for PTSD (including CBT, CPT, EMDR), the workshop will cover risks and issues particular to this challenging client group, working with co-morbidities and therapeutic adaptations (including imagery to address disgust / exposure to the grotesque). Clinical Psychologists Jillian Harrington and Sara Courtwood will share practical insights from decades of clinical work. Craig Semple of Mentality Plus will provide valuable lived experience insights, and an overview of what treating clinicians need to know about Police work and culture.
