Wed 1st Responder Case Consultation Grp
Small Group, monthly online sessions 5-6:30pm AEST/AEDT (Sydney time), First Wednesday of each month
Service Description
A monthly Case Consultation group for Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Mental Health Social Workers, focussing on clinical work with First Responder clients. In this series, Jillian Harrington will lead groups of up to 6 practitioners in case discussion / consultation covering assessment, treatment planning and treatment provision, with an emphasis on cultural, risk, ethical and pragmatic considerations particular to clients who've worked in emergency services. A range of treatment modalities including EMDR, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Imagery Rescripting and sensory integration will be incorporated. Clinicians will be supported to elevate and extend their clinical practice with First Responders in the various settings in which they work, factoring in the pressures that can arise from Workers Compensation, Work Injury Damages/Common Law proceedings, Rehabilitation and medical treatment systems. Sessions will include the sharing of resources, reference to evidence-informed treatment guidelines where relevant, and an opportunity to network and collaborate with colleagues also working with First Responders. (Jillian is the Chair of the Blue Knot Foundation Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma, the President of the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australasia, and a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years' experience in the assessment, rehabilitation and treatment of First Responders experiencing workplace injury). Wednesday sessions will take place on 1 July 2026, 5 August 2026, 2 September 2026, 7 October 2026, 4 November 2026 and 2 December 2026.

Cancellation Policy
Registration for the First Responder Case Consultation Group series secures a place within a small, capped professional consultation cohort. Due to the limited number of places available and the planning required for the consultation series, fees are non-refundable. Please choose carefully before registering, as refunds will not be provided for change of mind, scheduling conflicts, non-attendance, or partial attendance across the series. Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any rights participants may have under the Australian Consumer Law, including consumer guarantees that cannot legally be excluded. We understand that the best-made plans can sometimes be unexpectedly interrupted, and participants who are unable to attend one or more monthly consultation sessions during the July–November consultation series will be offered the opportunity to attend a one-time optional make-up consultation session on Friday, 11 December 9:00am – 10:30am (AEDT) The make-up session is intended as a courtesy opportunity to support continuity of learning and consultation. Participants may attend this session in place of missed sessions; however: only one make-up session will be offered during the series period, the make-up session may include participants from other First Responder Consultation Groups, and participant numbers may therefore exceed the usual maximum group size of six clinicians. The make-up session cannot be exchanged for credit, refund, or transfer to another program or future series. If a session is cancelled by the facilitator, participants will be offered either: a replacement session, transfer of the missed session to the scheduled make-up session, or another remedy as required under Australian Consumer Law.
